What’s next…?

How early should I book a fitting?

Is there enough time before the wedding date to alter my dress??

What do I need to bring to my first fitting?

How many fittings will I need?

For Bridal Gowns we typically recommend that you plan for your alteration process to start at least 3-4 months ahead of your wedding date. But in these uncertain times that isn’t always doable when your rebooked plan C, D or Z wedding date is able to happen sooner than you thought. There’s enough to worry about and having your dress ready doesn’t need to be one of them! At Starnotch we can accommodate just about every bride or bridal party member who’s in a panic up to 2-3 weeks before needed. Most bridal gowns need 3-4 fittings. There are some dresses where a 5th fitting is needed. (You can anticipate approx a month between fittings).

Bridesmaids can plan for your first fitting typically 4-8 weeks or more before the event date. The fitting process for Prom or Communion can typically be started at least 4-8 weeks or more before the event.

All garments will have a final press. So it’s ideal to plan for pick up during the last week before your wedding or event.

You are welcome to come as early as up to a year ahead if you know your clothing fit doesn’t fluctuate. Sometimes its nice to have one of the major things on your wedding to-do list checked off. In some cases there’s uncertainty whether the dream dress that you’ve found can be altered to how you’d like it to look or fit and you need answers ASAP. You can book a consultation fitting, at no cost, to get those answers before you start hitting the shops again in search of another dress.

Once you have decided it’s time to book your fitting… you will need to bring the proper undergarments with you. Bye Bra adhesive bras are available to purchase during your fitting. We will advise on which style adhesive bra will work best for your garment. (Whatever shape wear, bra or bottoms that need to be worn with your dress can significantly affect the fit). For hems, it’s always a good idea to check in the first fitting where the dress hem falls even if it’s been custom made to you or looks like it doesn’t need it. *Bring your shoes to every fitting.* If you’re still shoe shopping, no worries… bring shoes of a similar height.
